Hopefully I will be able to get our Buzz Books updated and current this week, until then please note that students have one sheet of homework each night to complete, front and back.
Monday - Worksheet 5
Tuesday - Worksheet 6
Wednesday - Worksheet 7
Thursday- Worksheet 8
I have reminded everyone that when they are completing their handwriting they should focus on doing 5-8 good phonograms instead of an entire row of rushed work. Quality is always more important than quantity!

Week of 8/23
Last week was a very busy week. I am still in the process of completing individual assessments resulting in our class completing more worksheets than usual. This week our sight words are: the, of, to, I & in. We will also be working on phonograms 1-10. I'm very excited to announce that we will begin using a new Spalding video in class this week. The video is more engaging and includes hand gestures with the phonograms as well as fun rhymes, I will be posting a link to the video on our blog shortly. In math we are still reviewing numbers 1-100 as well as the months of the year, days of the week, patterns, and money. This year social studies and science are on an alternating schedule for the first grade, currently we are studying our national and state symbols. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact me, my e-mail is up and running at acostello@hesglendale.org or you can call the office before or after school. I am on campus usually by 7am and stay until after 4pm most days.

Good Morning
Our first full week is done, and we are all ready for the weekend. We are having our first phonics and sight words tests this week. Any students who do not receive a passing grade will have an opportunity to retake the test on Wednesday of next week. I know that there have been some questions about homework. I only send home one homework sheet Monday through Friday. If students don't complete their class work by Friday they are expected to complete it during recess and free time. There will be no homework this weekend. I'm looking forward to posting more here over the weekend and hope that you will check back often.
