As we have not had an opportunity to practice our Phonograms in class this week I am canceling the phonograms test. Students will be expected to know phonograms 50-70 for our test on December the 3rd.
I will be issuing a review spelling list and phonograms list today. Students will be tested on these phonograms and spelling words prior to our break on November the 23rd.

I am reviewing my procedures regarding grading and behavior. Sometimes a more strict approach is required and that is what I intend to implement. We have had several issues since I took my bereavement leave and I feel that if our class does not address both the issues in quality of work and behavior the remainder of our school year will be negatively impacted.
Starting this week students will be required to get a signature on any work that does not have a passing grade and bring these assignments back to be placed in my files.
If students do not have names on their work a note will be sent home and students will receive a zero for that assignment.
If work is completed as a class group assignment the second side of the work will be graded homework. If students do not return this work they will receive a zero.
It is very important that students have as many opportunities to complete independent assignments as possible. Mathematically the more quality independent grades I am able to enter into the system the more likely students are to receive a higher grade overall. All students need the opportunity to practice their skills as a group and on their own. Students who fail to return graded homework or refuse to complete independent assignments in class will continue to see their grades suffer.
